Harmony, Cultural Learning Space
The Tea Factory renovation at National Kuan Hsi Senior High School transforms a century-old tea facility into a sustainable learning hub rooted in cultural memory. Honoring its industrial past, original tea-processing machines are retained as sculptural artifacts, bridging heritage and contemporary education. Passive design strategies—natural ventilation, daylighting, and breathable materials—reduce energy use while enhancing comfort.
Modular spaces and immersive media support situational learning and student-led exploration across disciplines. The warm tactility of exposed wood, recycled brick, and textured surfaces evokes the sensory rituals of tea-making. Blending environmental responsibility with narrative depth, the factory becomes a living classroom—where tradition is not only preserved, but reactivated to inspire future generations through reflection, making, and shared experience.
